This window shows St Cuthbert holding a Bible, below is a shield with a red diagonal cross, which is one of the coat of arms for the Gregson Family. Above is Durham Cathedral where his body lies below the great alter and near his feet a seal representing the time he spent on Lindesfarne. It reads - To the Glory of God, the beloved memory of Charles Gregson of Murton and Burdon. Born 1848. Died 1931 - erected by his wife and children. The Rev Charles Gregson died in Bournemouth at the age of 83, he was a scholar at Durham University and his first curacy was at St Cuthbert’s Church, Durham. For many years he was a military chaplain and after retiring continued to serve in country parishes. The window was unveiled by Major C D Gregson and dedicated by Canon P Y Knight of Ryhope. The Rev. J Norwood, curate of St Andrews conducted the service and Mr. T H Britton read the lesson.
